Scarface actress who starred opposite Tom Cruise and Kevin Costner spotted riding the NYC subway at 67 — can you guess who?

A veteran actress who once shared the screen with some of Hollywood’s biggest leading men was recently seen taking the subway in New York City.

After launching her career on stage, she shot to fame with a breakout role in Scarface, starring alongside Al Pacino. Throughout the 1980s and ’90s, she worked with Tom Cruise, Kevin Costner, and later appeared in a film ensemble that included George Clooney.

Now 67, the Tony-nominated performer was spotted in Manhattan carrying a large shopping bag as she took a seat on the train. She kept it chic yet practical in a pale gray turtleneck, dark slim jeans, a puffer jacket, and mittens to brave the winter cold.

The actress is Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio.

She rose to prominence playing Gina Montana, the fiery sister of Tony Montana, in Scarface, the 1983 crime classic directed by Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone. The film’s cast also featured Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert Loggia, and Steven Bauer.

Raised in the Chicago suburbs, Mastrantonio studied drama at the University of Illinois before heading to New York to pursue acting. Her Broadway breakthrough came in a 1980 revival of West Side Story, where she eventually stepped into the lead role of Maria.

Her film career gained momentum quickly. In 1986, she starred in Martin Scorsese’s The Color of Money alongside Paul Newman and Tom Cruise, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She later appeared in James Cameron’s sci-fi drama The Abyss and played Maid Marian opposite Kevin Costner in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991).

Throughout the 1990s, she continued working steadily in both film and theater, including roles in The Perfect Storm (2000) with George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg. On stage, she received a Tony nomination in 2003 for her performance as Aldonza in a revival of Man of La Mancha.

Off-screen, Mastrantonio has been married for 35 years to Irish director Pat O’Connor, and the couple share two sons.
