TikToker Films Herself Moments Before Near-Death Experience After Picking Up One Of The World’s Most Dangerous Creatures

A TikTok creator unknowingly filmed what could have been a fatal encounter after picking up one of the most venomous creatures on the planet without realizing the danger she was in.It might sound like something straight out of a horror movie, but for one TikToker, this terrifying situation was all too real. She innocently recorded herself collecting seashells by the water’s edge, not knowing the potential risk right in her hand.

Beckylee Rawls shared the now-viral video on TikTok. In the clip, she is seen calmly strolling along a beach in Okinawa, Japan, when she bends down to pick up a shell from the sand.

She then holds the shell up to the camera to show it off before gently setting it back down. At the time, she had no idea that she was just moments away from what could have been a life-threatening situation. In the caption of her TikTok post, she reflected on the encounter, writing: “Last time I ever pick up a cone shell barehanded…”

The clip left a lot of viewers completely stunned once they realized just how dangerous that seemingly harmless shell really was.In a follow-up video, Beckylee explained how it all happened. She said: “Yep, that was me picking up a marbled cone snail – one of the deadliest creatures on Earth. Had no idea.”

“I was out tidepooling in Okinawa, Japan, and I came across this shell.”

“As you can see, it’s one of my favourite shells to collect because the pattern is so stunning.”“So I pick up the shell and that’s when I noticed the shell’s alive, and the black and white tube you see is the snail’s siphon which it breathes out of.”

“This is also the end of the snail that shoots a harpoon to sting and inject its victims with venom.”

“I was playing with the most venomous creature in the ocean that can lead to full paralysis or fatality.”“I hope my story spreads awareness that not all pretty shells are harmless.”

Hundreds of users flooded the comment section, reacting to how close she came to danger. One person expressed concern by saying: “Cone snails are one of the deadliest animals out there; I’m hoping you’re fully recovered.”

Someone else shared their experience: “I DID THIS AND PROCEEDED TO HAND IT AROUND TO MY WHOLE FAMILY EXCEPT MY LITTLE SISTER. My youngest sister refused to touch it because she said she saw it on a documentary and we didn’t believe her.”A third person chimed in, clearly overwhelmed, with: “What the hell? How are we supposed to know all these things?!”

And another warned others by adding: “They are all over Florida and Hawaii. never touch a cone shell in the water.”There are around 700 different species of cone snails in the world, and every single one of them carries venom. These creatures are mostly found in tropical waters, particularly around the Pacific Ocean, the South China Sea, and parts of Australia.
