The young family had been looking for a suitable apartment for a long time. In the end, they bought a two-room apartment in an old residential area – a typical Khrushchev-era building with a rather tired renovation on the top floor.
The couple faced a choice: to buy a slightly larger apartment with a more recent renovation in a new building, but in a remote area, or to stay in an old apartment, saving on the cost of housing and investing money in renovation according to their own preferences.
After much thought, the owner admitted:
“We specifically looked for an apartment in an ‘old’ condition so as not to overpay for someone else’s design and to have complete freedom to implement our own ideas,” he explained.
At first, it seemed like a controversial choice. But the family took a decisive step to transform the old space.
The new owner decided to completely renovate the interior, but without re-planning – to preserve the functionality of the room, while radically updating the design.
The main idea of the renovation was to create a modern and cozy space with minimal investment, but with maximum effect.
Old floors, shabby walls and faded wallpaper have given way to fresh paint, warm colors and stylish accessories.
Instead of bulky furniture, the owners chose more laconic items, which made the space visually more spacious and brighter.
The kitchen and living room layout has become open, the dining area flows smoothly into the recreation area. The room has become noticeably lighter thanks to the use of large mirrors and warm lighting fixtures.
The bathroom has been transformed into a true oasis, with stylishly designed tiles, new plumbing fixtures and thoughtful storage.
The result was shocking not only for the owners themselves, but also for their friends and acquaintances.
