Actress Jennifer Runyon, widely recognized for her memorable performances in the legendary movie Ghostbusters and the popular sitcom Charles in Charge, has passed away at the age of 65.

The cherished star died on March 6 following a six-month battle with cancer. Her family announced the devastating news through a heartfelt message on social media, confirming she passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side.

In a touching Facebook statement cited by ABC7 Los Angeles, her relatives expressed their grief and gratitude:

“This past Friday night our beloved Jennifer passed away. It was a long and arduous journey that ended with her surrounded by her family. We are so grateful for the time we had with her and for the love and support she shared with so many people throughout her life. She will always be remembered for her love of life and the deep devotion she had to her family and friends.”

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 1, 1960, Runyon rose to prominence in the 1980s with a string of notable roles in both film and television.

She is fondly remembered by many fans for her standout appearance in the very first scene of Ghostbusters. Furthermore, her portrayal of Gwendolyn Pierce in Charles in Charge cemented her status as a familiar and beloved television presence.

Throughout her career, she also made guest appearances on iconic hit shows such as Quantum LeapMurder, She Wrote, and Magnum, P.I. Eventually, she chose to step away from the entertainment industry to dedicate herself entirely to her family and other personal endeavors.

Runyon leaves behind her husband, basketball coach Todd Corman, and their two children, Wyatt and Bayley.
