An active shooter incident occurred Thursday morning at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, just north of Detroit, triggering panic and an immediate lockdown. The situation began around 7:08 a.m. after reports of gunfire in the hospitalβs parking garage prompted a rapid emergency response.
Authorities later confirmed the suspect was a hospital employee who targeted a coworker. The victim, a 25-year-old staff member, was shot twice in the arm. The motive behind the attack has not yet been disclosed.
The injured employee was rushed to the hospitalβs emergency department and stabilized. Officials say he remains in stable condition and is expected to recover.
Law enforcement apprehended the suspect without further violence, and normal operations were gradually restored after the lockdown was lifted. The incident has renewed concerns about workplace safety in healthcare settings, with hospital officials reviewing security measures moving forward.
