In 2010, Army officer Todd Weaver was killed by an IED during his second tour in Afghanistan. He was just 26 years old, leaving behind his loving wife, Emma, and their 9-month-old daughter, Kiley, who would grow up without memories of her father. After Todd’s funeral, Emma received his laptop from Afghanistan. Two days later, she opened it and noticed two Word documents on the desktop: one labeled “Dear Emma” and the other “Dear Kiley.” Her heart stopped as she realized what they were — farewell letters Todd had written in case he didn’t make it home.

In his letter to Emma, Todd poured out his love and faith.
