Billie Eilish Spoke Out After Losing 100,000 Followers In An Hour Over One Post

Billie Eilish has once again found herself at the center of attention following her comments at the Grammy Awards. The Los Angeles singer, who won Best Song alongside her brother FINNEAS, chose not to treat the moment as a celebration. Instead, she used her time on stage to share a political message that reflected her personal views. While her comments focused on ICE and the challenges faced by immigrants in the United States, she also said that “nobody is illegal on stolen land,” referencing the country’s history of colonization.
In the days that followed, Eilish faced heavy criticism online. The backlash intensified after reports surfaced that she lives in a $3 million mansion built on land that once belonged to a local Indigenous tribe. The situation led to renewed debate online, though public scrutiny is not new territory for the singer. A similar reaction unfolded back in 2020, when she lost around 100,000 followers in just one hour over a single social media post.At the time, it was not a celebrity selfie that caused the stir. Instead, it stemmed from one of Eilish’s own drawings, which she shared on Instagram Stories after being asked which piece of artwork she felt most proud of.

“These probably lol I love boobs,” Eilish wrote in the caption. The post appeared to prompt a wave of unfollows, with many people reacting strongly to the content and what it suggested about her identity.Eilish soon noticed the sudden drop herself and later addressed it directly on her Instagram Story, writing: “LMFAOOO y’all babies smh.”

Three years later, Eilish openly confirmed that she is queer during an interview, speaking candidly and in her usual straightforward style. She said: “That song [Lunch] was actually part of what helped me become who I am, to be real. I wrote some of it before even doing anything with a girl, and then wrote the rest after.”

“I was never planning on talking about my sexuality ever, in a million years. It’s really frustrating to me that it came up.”“I’ve been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just didn’t understand until, last year, I realised I wanted my face in a vagina.”Given the singer-songwriter’s long list of awards, chart success, and financial security, the loss of a portion of her social media following does not appear to have slowed her down.
She still has hundreds of millions more followers than most people, after all.
