A groundbreaking moment just took place in Central Arkansas as the first all-Black female fire crew officially made history. The crew, made up of brave and skilled firefighters, served a full shift together—marking a powerful milestone for representation in public service and emergency response.
This historic shift happened in the North Little Rock Fire Department, where four Black women came together on duty: Firefighter Aisha Green, Engineer Kimberly Holloway, Lieutenant Chandra Minor, and Captain Scherita Buchanan. Their moment was captured and shared across the internet as a symbol of pride, strength, and generational progress.
This moment is more than a first—it’s a legacy. These women are lighting a path forward for young girls everywhere, especially Black girls who’ve never seen themselves represented in this role. The crew’s unity, professionalism, and excellence remind us that representation matters and that Black women continue to rise in every field, even in those historically closed off to them.
