Thirteen-year-old Arya Permana from Indonesia was considered the heaviest child in the world just a few years ago. His diet consisted mainly of instant noodles, soda, and fried chicken — a high-calorie but extremely unhealthy “menu.”
By the age of 10, his weight had reached an astonishing 191.9 kilograms.
Due to his massive weight, Arya could barely move — even walking five meters was a challenge. He had to study at home because he couldn’t attend school on his own.
The most frightening part was that his obesity threatened his life: his heart, lungs, and joints were all under extreme strain.
Doctors then made a bold decision to perform bariatric surgery. Arya became the youngest patient ever to undergo this type of operation.
The surgery, combined with a strict diet of fish, vegetables, and fruits, produced amazing results: Arya lost 106 kilograms. Today, he weighs 85.8 kilograms — a transformation that completely changed his life.
Now, Arya can not only walk but also goes for morning runs — something that seemed impossible until recently. He has reconnected with friends, is making plans, and dreams of the future.
However, his journey to a full recovery isn’t over yet: the rapid weight loss has left him with large folds of excess skin.
His new goal is to undergo surgery to remove the extra skin and complete the incredible transformation that has inspired thousands of people around the world.
